Mission and Outreach

Outreach is a core part of our mission to Support, Share, and Serve in the world.  Every month we target a different organization for outreach, and all open donations (as well as any targeted ones) are donated to them.  The outreach for the current month is shown here, and below are some of the organizations we support.

The Outreach for September is Snowsuit Fund

The West Carleton Food Access Centre   has remained open and is still OPEN for those who need its services during Covid-19.  If you know anyone who requires the services of the Food Bank please call using the number below.  A special "Thank You" goes out to all those who have helped and contributed to the West Carleton Food Access Centre.

Canadian Foodgrains Bank

As part of outreach, the Anglican Parish of Fitzroy Harbour donates to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB) by way of contributions from a growing project. The CFGB is a partnership of fifteen Canadian church denominations and church agencies working together to end world hunger. Each year, our parish grows a field crop and the money paid from selling that crop is donated to the CFGB.

Our parish growing project was initiated by Ron Weir, who saw how much good work the CFGB was doing in developing countries. In 2016, our parish donated in excess of $9,000 to the CFGB and has donated almost $45,000 in the past five years. The Canadian government will match 4:1 for every dollar donated to the CFGB, up to $25 million per year.

The parish growing project is located at the corner of Aylwin Road and Canon Smyth Road across from the entrance to the Fitzroy Provincial Park. Parish members volunteer time in helping to cultivate and plant as well as inform and advocate with people in the community and government.

We are also blessed with contributions from Christ Church Bell's Corners Anglican Church, Bit-Ta-Luk Farms, Carp and Synagri, Richmond. Their commitments help to generously offset input costs in our growing project. We are proud to contribute to the CFGB as part of our ongoing parish outreach.
